The Big City on Pastor Harry's Birthday

Yesterday,we decided to go to the big city of Vijaywada, about 1/2 hour from our school in Ibrahimpatnam. Instead of the old van, we got to cram into a nice late model 7 passenger station wagon the conference has given us to use. It's tight, but doable, and will save a lot on van rental. It's Josh, Josh and Eric in back, Harry, Judy, Leigh and Julianna in the middle, and Pastor Mark and the driver in fromt. We'll have to lash the guitar and equipment on top when the meetings begin. But, hey--it's got working A/C!! Julianna and Leigh had a great time picking out fabric for punjabi outfits and a saree. The fellows got shirts and pants. Picked up cleaning supplies for our rooms, and had supper at "Pizza Corner", where you could order strange-sounding Indian concoction pizzas! Josh and Josh tried the tofu tiki one! Tomorrow, we meet our Bible workers and pastor for our 5 villages. Jet lag is improving!

We passed the huge Krishna river on the way, tons of construction, herds of water buffalo, herds of goats, a few horses, and choking traffic. We went shopping for Punjabi outfits and saris for the girls, and shirts and pants for the guys, as well as cleaning products and stuff for our quarters.
